“For the two of us, home isn’t a place. It is a person. And we are finally home.” – Stephanie Perkins
We hit it off IMMEDIATELY when we met Hannah and Matt for dinner one evening. We just loved seeing their personalities and the way they practically finished each other sentences. They told us they were high school sweethearts (so sweet) and knew over the years of dating that they were truly meant to be together.
We asked Hannah how he proposed and she said:
“It was Christmas Day..after seeing a flood of couples get engaged over the previous few days, I was feeling quite defeated and frustrated with Matt. Following our traditional Christmas dinner and present opening, Matt said he had one more surprise for me. I sat there and talked with his while family and my mom as he disappeared into another room. As he entered back in, he had his hands behind his back. Honestly, I was thinking, “typical men..never takes the time to wrap a gift.” He walked over to me and proceed to get on one knee and say, “Hannah Rae Taylor” At this point he has tears streaming down his face and I was right behind him in mine! He apparently said, “Will you marry me?” but I was so excited and shocked that I didn’t even hear him! Of course I said yes!”
On the day of their engagement, they told us “just tell us if we look awkward”… um, y’all, they were most DEF not awkward. In fact, quite the opposite. The afternoon was fully of non-stop smiling and laughing. They are #relationshipgoals! We knew they wanted some “Gatsby-style” and “1920s” architecture, and downtown Birmingham fit this description perfectly. We cannot wait to celebrate them with their closest friends and family at Southside Baptist Church and The Florentine this January!!
