“When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” – When Harry Met Sally
The way Ryland looks at Kelsey made us fall in love with their adoration with one another and J & D Farms set the perfect backdrop to their day!
Kelsey and I (Julie), went to elementary and middle school together. When Kelsey asked us to shoot her wedding last spring, I was over the moon happy for her! Kelsey and Ryland travel a lot for their jobs, so we had to communicate through long distance. When their wedding day came, we were BEYOND excited that the day had finally arrived.
When Ryland proposed, Kelsey told us, “We were on at picnic at Oak Mountain State Park. For the previous Valentine’s day I had given him a stack of ‘open when’ letters for a bad day, big events, etc. that I wouldn’t be there for since we were long-distance at the time. We had discussed marriage many times & so one envelope said ‘open when…you are going to propose’. While we were at the park, he handed me the letter & tears immediately began to flow. He then asked me to marry him, all while covered in nervous hives!”
Kelsey and Ryland were married on a gorgeous May afternoon in J&D’s orchard farm. The farm chairs among the low-hanging, apple trees was such a romantic place for them to say their “I do’s”. They decided to do their first look at the foot of the cross at the altar. When Ryland saw Kelsey for the first time, he LOST IT!! (see below)
They kept warning us that they would both ugly cry, but we ugly cried too at this precious moment. Hands down our favorite moment of the day.
A few other things we loved was seeing their fur baby, Nelly, dressed for the occasion too. Nelly may have stolen the spotlight a few times throughout the day; you would have thought she lived at J&D Farms the way she pranced around so happy for her humans to tie the knot!
At the ceremony, Kelsey wore her veil as a blusher and let Ryland reveal her glowing face when they kissed. The way the golden sunset hit her veil took our breath away and we can honestly say that ceremony kiss will be one of the most memorable for us.
At the reception, they danced and shared a fun “tunnel dance” where all of the guests went through with a special dance. BEST. IDEA. EVER.
We cannot say enough good things about this amazing couple and we know that they truly complete one another and bring out the best in one another. Thank you THANK YOU for letting us be such a big part in your day. Your love inspires us and we are blessed by your friendship!
