When we first met Mary at a small coffee shop in downtown Birmingham, she told us that she always knew that she and Kevin would spend the rest of their lives together. Whatever new adventure they journeyed upon, Kevin & Mary have always been side by side since they first started dating. And we LOVE their story.
Kevin & Mary usually tell people they met through mutual friends. The real story: On Halloween weekend of 2005, Mary was at an establishment when she heard Kevin exclaim loudly, “SHE’S FINE.” Mary looked back at Kevin who was staring at her. With a look of disapproval, Mary turned and said nothing to him. Immediately afterwards, Kevin told his friend sitting next to him that he would end up dating Mary someday. OH THE IRONY.
Two years pass, and Mary sees Kevin out one night while celebrating a friend’s birthday. Mary did not recognize him because previously, Kevin had long hair and a beard. Mary eventually asked for Kevin’s (who had short hair, clean shaven face) phone number through a mutual friend. By the second or third date, Mary realized Kevin was the same person who offended her (all the while Kevin knew). By then, it was too late. Mary and Kevin will be celebrating nine years together before they wed on November 12.
In 2015, Kevin and Mary lived outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Kevin, Mary, and their Great Dane, Peanut, went for a walk on a local trail. Along the trail was the ruins of a grist mill. Kevin led Mary and Peanut in the ruins and asked Mary to look at a message written on the wall. It said, “Will you marry me?” Mary turned around to look at Kevin who was on one knee with the engagement ring.
