When we asked Konnor & Lauren to describe their relationship in one word, they replied with, “Devoted.” What a beautiful word!
Konnor had moved to Nashville the first weekend in June (which happened to be right before their six year anniversary). Lauren and Konnor’s mom has driven up to meet him at his new home to help him decorate. They spent the day hanging photos and planned to celebrate their anniversary together later that evening. Lauren admits that she was totally unsuspecting of what the evening actually entailed.
Konnor had made a reservation at a restaurant with the Opryland Hotel for dinner. The restaurant was styled to look as if it were an antebellum home that overlooked a small river in the hotel. Lauren loved everything about the dinner and was impressed with Konnor’s choice of location. On the way back to their car, Konnor pulled out another surprise! He had tickets to the Grand Ole Opry and wanted to take Lauren to a show. Neither of them had been to the Grand Ole Opry and were amazed! Lauren for sure thought this might have been the best date they ever had. They night wasn’t quite over yet though.
“ We went back to his apartment and I suspected that we would sit with his mom and talk about the great night we had, but I was wrong! He stopped me as we walked in the door and said that he had one more gift. He took me out onto his balcony and sat across from me. He had a beautiful leather bound journal in his hand and he said that he wanted me to read what he had wrote. Konnor told me to take my time and not skip over anything.
He went back inside so that I could read and said that he was going to make us some coffee. I sat on the balcony reading the most beautiful love letter from Konnor. He poured his heart out over several pages and I spent a great deal of time crying over it. I reached the last two pages of his letter and he explained that me coming to Nashville that weekend was not for the purpose of helping him to move in and that the journal was not actually his gift to me. The journal was actually from my Mom. She knows how much I love leather bound journals and she bought me one and was saving it for a special occasion. The last page of the letter said “Will you Marry Me? Come back inside if yes.”
So of course I went back inside! I will never forget the look of pure love and joy on his face. It was the sweetest moment. He actually had my parents hiding out in his apartment too, so my mom got to take pictures and they got to be there to share this special moment. His proposal was everything I dreamed it would be and so much more.”
