“Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.” – Ruth 1:16
Beth and Paul. Paul and Beth. The two most genuine, funny, and joyful people you’ll ever meet…and we are so blessed that they fell in love. Paul first met Beth at Camp Sumatanga in May 2013. Paul was head of summer staff and Beth was completing her summer internship for camp directing. We love it when God brings two people together when they least expect it.
That summer Beth had her heart set on international missions and was planning to leave the U.S. in the following spring to serve the Lord for a year. Her world got a little rocked when sweet Paul walked into the picture. She even tried to ignore the attraction to him by avoiding the spots he frequented at camp. Paul, on the hand, played it cool. He gently pursued Beth by small acts of kindness. He would leave Beth snacks at her desk if he noticed she skipped breakfast. He would bring her favorite cereal by her room for when she was cramming for summer exams. He even “stole and broke” her old watch, and bought her a new one to replace it. Sweet moments like those caught Beth’s attention for sure. His patient pursuit paid out! At the very end of the summer Paul asked Beth on their first date!
Camp Sumatanga has a special place in Paul and Beth’s hearts. When Beth described her proposal she said, “If we had a home church it would be camp. If we had a “spot”, it would be camp. And if there was ever a sacred place that we both claim ownership of, it would be camp! It’s where we met, it’s where he proposed, it’s where we’ll take engagement photos this Sunday, and it’s where we’ll get married!!!”.
And we get a front row seat :)
Thank you Paul and Beth for asking us to come along to document your sweet story! We are so excited for your BIG day in the fall! xoxo- L&J
